Book Share with Julie Flett, Nooshin Safakhoo, and Sara Khalili

As part of their Book Share series, the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art will be hosting a conversation between Julie Flett, Nooshin Safakhoo and Sara Khalili. This event will take place online, for more information and to register click here.

Nooshin Safkhoo and Sara Khalili are the illustrator and translator, respectively, of Elsewhere Editions’s In the Meadow of Fantasies by Hadi Mohammadi which was awarded a 2022 Mildred L. Batchelder Honor.

Julie Flett is a Cree–Métis author, illustrator, and artist who has received numerous awards for her books, including two Governor General’s Awards, the American Indian Library Association Award, and the TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award. Her books have been selected for Best of the Year lists by media outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Publisher’s Weekly, The Horn Book, The Boston Globe, School Library Journal, The Globe and Mail, and Kirkus Reviews.

Beloved Iranian illustrator Nooshin Safakhoo was born in Tehran in 1980. After teaching, she began a long career of painting precise, lyrical images for children’s books, including The Owl & the Jaybird and Shahname. Nooshin has been selected three times to show her work at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.

Sara Khalili is an editor and translator of contemporary Iranian literature. Her translations include Moon Brow and Censoring an Iranian Love Story by Shahriar Mandanipour, The Pomegranate Lady and Her Sons by Goli Taraghi, The Book of Fate by Parinoush Saniee, Kissing the Sword by Shahrnush Parsipur, and Rituals of Restlessness by Yaghoub Yadali.
